From the CEO: A Guide to Women’s Confidence in the Workplace

As driven, successful women, we often believe success comes at a price. In my 14 years of business, health, and career coaching, I've seen one consistent pattern: 

We make our health pay the price for our success.

But here's the truth: for women, a 'normal' organisation is not a level playing field. It's not set up for us to thrive or perform at our best. It stops us from succeeding from the start of our journey at work. Even when women run the organisation, we face the same challenges.

Empowering Women in Leadership

So let's talk about confidence. 

Nearly half (48%) of women say they don't feel very confident at work right now, citing career and financial setbacks (DressForSuccess News). This lack of confidence is holding us back. Globally, women hold just 25% of executive leadership roles, despite making up almost half of the workforce.

But here's the kicker: companies with women at the helm are 25% more likely to outperform their peers. We need to bridge this confidence gap.

The Power of Confidence 

So, how do we build confidence? It starts with understanding the difference between control and power. Control is external, difficult, and energetically costly. Power, on the other hand, is internal. When you understand your own power, it stays with you no matter what's happening around you.

Remember, freedom comes from power, not control.

Here are some key factors driving women's professional success:

  • Feeling fulfilled in their work (60%)
  • Maintaining healthy work-life boundaries (51%)
  • Salaries contributing to financial freedom (44%)
  • Prioritizing health and well-being (41%)
  • Achieving growth and promotions (36%)

And, not unsurprisingly, women who had the opportunity to work remotely were 1.3x more likely to report being confident in their careers.
